     Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and construct type test validation requirements and validation process of components and new products within the development process. Includes and not limited to: Stress testing, reliability testing, environmental testing, product functionality.
  • Interface with the development engineers to design testability requirements though the development process.
  • Create and drive prototype testing strategies, implement plans and data analysis.
  • Interface with the reliability engineering team to create component and product HALT testing requirements. Includes, Stress testing, Reliability testing
  • Lead a team to fabricate the test process based on the test requirements and process developed.
  • Create type test requirements and specifications documents.
  • Lead a team of engineers through the validation test process.
  • Review and analyze all test results for accuracy to the component and product requirement and section.
  • Research and recommend external test facility’s and processes for product validation test.
  • Conduct review all test results with the engineering design and development team members.
  • Provide tasks completion time estimates. 
  • Lead product agency compliance testing process.
  • Provide input to the performance reviews of engineering assistants, designers, and entry level and mid level engineers. 
  • May be involved in the compilation of project schedules, specifications, test plans, equipment purchases, release related documentation, and other duties as assigned. 
  • Maintain a proactive posture towards product quality and reliability.   
  • Be involved in departmental and personal quality and regulatory programs.

 

     Decision Making Authority

  • Has authority to obtain material from internal stock room and obtain material from outside vendors through purchase requisitions up to limit set by supervisor and with approval signature of supervisor or project manager.
  • Has authority to propose capital equipment purchases to supervisor.
  • Has authority to recommend product vendor sources for equipment or material to Purchasing Department.
  • Has authority to choose best methods to design, build and test prototypes without guidance from supervisor or lead project engineer.
  • Has authority to make changes to both released and unreleased drawings.
  • Has authority to recommend changes to functional and test specifications.
  • Has authority to assign project related tasks to engineering assistants, designers and entry level design engineers as directed by project manager.
  • Follow company purchase authorization procedures.

 

     Specific Scope Data

Production of manufacturable quality hardware product per product specifications.

 

     Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

EDUCATION: B.S degree in Engineering. Experience may be substituted to meet degree requirement.

EXPERIENCE: 5 or more years in engineering. No previous experience required with Ph.D. degree.


     Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions

 

  • Experience with Power electronic products which contain IGBT’s.
  • Experience with Analog and Digital designs.
  • Knowledge of HALT testing processes
  • Experience with engineering test labs
  • Experience with Oscilloscopes, DMM’s, thermal instrumentation
  • Knowledge compliance agency validation process.
  • Guide and counsel entry level engineers.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to dissect problems and projects into manageable tasks.
  • Good group interaction skills.
  • Basic knowledge of technologies.
  • Ability to accurately estimate time required to complete tasks.
  • Orcard/P-Spice/PADS

 

      Physical/Environmental requirements.

(1)    Physical Activities:

Fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions.

(2)    Level of Physical Requirements:

Sedentary-light work with occasional medium work

(3)    Level of Visual Acuity:

Inspection, close observation, assembly, clerical, computer design.

(4)    Environmental Conditions:

Inside environment, exposure to computer CRT, electronic components and systems.

 

       Interaction with Others (level of contact, purpose and frequency)

·         Written and oral communications with marketing, applications, engineering, manufacturing, and service groups to define and modify product specifications. 

·         Written and oral presentation of project schedule and status to engineering or project managers on, at least, a monthly basis. 

·         Written and oral communication with customers or potential customers at the level and frequency determined by engineering or project managers.
