Mission: Plans, directs and coordinates activities of technical project to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed timeframe and budget. Reviews project plan to ascertain schedule, cost, equipment and staffing requirements. Periodically reviews status of project and makes adjustments as necessary. Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems. May coordinate project activities with other departments or customers.
Summary:
Specific Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with utility, EPC or others to insure that each party understands their role and responsibility in the project.
- Oversee and coordinate the installation of AMSC solutions in customer or utility substations.
- Review customer RFPs and comment on viability of requirements or constructability issues
- Accompany other AMSC personnel to substations for site walks in preparation for bidding
- Participate with sales managers in bidding process and in development of proposals
- Develop equipment specifications for non-AMSC supplied equipment including transformers, capacitor banks, breakers, communication, relay/protection etc.
- Evaluate vendor bids for equipment and make recommendations for purchase
- Meet/communicate regularly with chosen contractor or EPC during the project installation process to insure that all work is being done properly
- Assist Projects group to complete engineering in a timely manner so schedules can be met.
- Develop one or more large project managers to perform similar tasks as outlined above
- Determine and implement system protection needs for proper coordination and protection of AMSC equipment
- Develop company policy, procedure and standards for equipment installation
- Identify applicable standards and insure that AMSC installations adhere to standards.
Education/Experience
- Candidate must have 10 years of technical project management. Transmission, distribution and substation experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
