D-VAR® (Dynamic VAR) STATCOMS 

AMSC’s D-VAR and D-VAR RT systems employ a proprietary control and monitoring system that detects voltage disturbances and instantaneously compensates for them. When disturbances occur, the D-VAR system injects leading or lagging reactive power (measured in VARS, or volt amperes-reactive) in precise amounts, precisely where it is needed on the grid.
