Functions:
- Perform electronics and mechanical assembly from sub-assembly level to finish goods
- Load and operate automated manufacturing equipment according to work instructions and follow standard operating procedures
- Assemble products according to good manufacturing practices including ESD safe handling, specification of materials, parts and assembly and operating process equipment
- Perform incoming parts inspections and place components into inventory
- Follow document control process for work instruction and travelers
- Creating and modifying work instructions and travelers as needed

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:
American Superconductor is seeking a mechanical engineer to support the SPS HTS Degaussing production line as well as continued product development. The successful candidate will work directly with both a manufacturing organization and an engineering-based support team to transfer engineering knowledge to the manufacturing team and to feedback production learning into the engineering support team for the purpose of continued product improvement, manufacturing efficiencies and cost reductions. The successful candidate will have a background in mechanical design, and exposure to thermal analysis, structural analysis, and designing high precision, tight tolerance components. The engineer is expected to assist the production effort with manufacturing engineering related tasks (work instructions, product and quality improvements, manufacturing process streamlining) as well as assist the engineering team with design changes, engineering change orders and design and analysis activity.
Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and SolidWorks CAD software is a definite plus.
Functions:
- The candidate will be responsible for manufacturing engineering support for the HTS Degaussing production line
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the design of new and/or improved hardware for use in superconducting systems, including structural and thermal analysis
- The position calls for excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to write technical reports and presentations, as well as the ability to work well within a team
- The engineer will be responsible for ensuring product design functionality is implemented at the production level.
- Support responsibility will continue through purchasing, parts manufacture, as well as system assembly, test, and documentation
Education – Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- The individual should work effectively in a multidisciplinary team consisting of scientists, engineers, and support personnel (machinist-technicians)
- Working knowledge of engineering analysis tools (structural and thermal)
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing practices with the design of machined parts and welded fabrications.

The Internal Audit Staff is responsible for providing support for the execution of the Company’s SOX compliance program and internal audit plan.
Functions:
- Execute test plans for SOX controls, including design and operating effectiveness testing.
- Review process documentation, narratives, and flowcharts to ensure alignment with control activities.
- Collect, analyze, and evaluate audit evidence to determine compliance with SOX requirements.
- Document test results clearly, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to audit methodology.
- Track and validate remediation efforts for identified deficiencies.
- Assist in planning and performing audits of key business processes to assess efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with policies.
- Assist in identifying risks related to changes in business processes and contribute to recommendations for control improvements.

Education – Experience:

Functions:
- Perform failure analysis and root cause studies of premature component failures and formulate the actions necessary to match component reliability.
- Perform on-site installation and commissioning of SPS Degaussing systems for domestic and international customers.
- Train customer in operating and maintenance practices as appropriate for system type
- Assist Engineering & Manufacturing with factory testing of new units.
- Responsible for modifying documentation pertaining to each customer unit including schematics, user manuals, safety practices, etc, to reflect actual site/installation conditions.
- Interact with customer representative to solve problems that need to be handled remotely. As necessary, travel to the customer site to maintain high reliability.
- Provide written communications regarding customer units. Produce, distribute, and maintain files containing service reports after each on-site visit.
- Travel time anticipated between 40 – 50%.
- Ability to oversee and perform trend analysis of the field service database.
- Ability to carry a Field Service pager 20% the time.
- Schedule startup/commissioning activities to maintain product delivery commitments.

Education – Experience:
