Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

Responsible for providing cradle-to-grave commercial and government and contract drafting, negotiation and administration services for a wide-range of proposals and contractual agreements consistent with company policies and business practices, as well as for assuring company’s compliance with customer contract requirements.  This also includes the responsibility for implementing company’s contracting policies and procedures and the interpretation and implementation of current government acquisition regulations and policies

Education – Experience:

  • BS/BA in Business or related field and/or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with increasingly complex responsibilities in contracts environment required.
  • Experience as an individual contributor responsible for drafting, negotiating and administering:
    • Domestic and international commercial contracts.
    • Government contracts with agencies such as DOE, DOD, DHS and ONR.
    • License agreements, teaming agreements, and non-disclosure agreements is also highly desirable.
    • Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations and U.S. Export laws and regulations.

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

Functions:

  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly from sub-assembly level to finish goods
  • Load and operate automated manufacturing equipment according to work instructions and follow standard operating procedures
  • Assemble products according to good manufacturing practices, including specification of materials, parts and assembly and operating process equipment
  • Document assembly processes/instructions/status reports for all incoming Grid products
  • Work with Field Service and Engineering staff to assist in troubleshooting in house and field issues as required
  • Assist Supervisor and or Team Leader in production planning
  • Follow all safety requirements across the Grid manufacturing plant and notify your Supervisor and or Team Lead of any potential safety risk

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

AMSC is looking for a uniquely skilled electrical engineer to be the technical point person supporting power electronics product lines as well as supporting increased utility adoption of AMSC solutions.  This role requires that you deploy strong technical and communication skills across a broad range of utility and customer stakeholders.  Depending on the customer need, duties include helping and training utility line crews to deploy and commission AMSC solutions, integrating with customer communications and SCADA networks, helping to analyze power flow studies, or leading, technical webinars.

AMSC high performance distribution and transmission class voltage regulation solutions uniquely address growing power quality problems that utilities and renewable energy providers are facing.   These problems are caused by several drivers including: increased DER adoption (solar and vehicle fast-charging), increased power demands from utility C&I customers, and regional undergrounding of distribution feeders.  Helping to achieve the vision of “one on every circuit,” you will be a key team member helping AMSC to deliver a unique and high-quality utility customer experience.

Functions:

  • Work with customers to facilitate the adoption process for AMSC power electronics product lines especially within the utility technical community. You will consistently interface with standards engineers, distribution/transmission operations, and protection and control engineers
  • Work with customer engineers and specialists to enable them to independently apply AMSC solutions to their specific needs
  • Help customers resolve system integration issues: including control system configuration, DMS system integration, SCADA integration, site sensor integration, etc.
  • Be the technical SME for customer pilot projects; work with customers to demonstrate/quantify technical performance, write-up performance reports, and disseminate within the customer’s stakeholder community
  • Train customers AMSC product lines via webinars and on-site training programs; create and enhance training material for clarity and effectiveness
  • Assist customers with site commissioning and troubleshooting, either remotely or on-site as needed, to ensure an experience that is “easy to work with”
  • Travel to customers as needed to build relationships and create high-quality experiences

Functions:

Support Gridtec Solutions™ by conducting power system studies and modeling related to the AMSC® STATCOM products using load flow, transient stability and electromagnetic transient simulation tools.

  • Undertakes detailed application and design studies for AMSC®’s products including FACTS systems, power electronic converters, energy storage solutions, fault current limiters and high capacity superconductor cable systems
  • Uses network analysis software to perform detailed load flow, transient stability and electromagnetic transient studies in assessing system requirements and appropriate solution options (using either current or innovative new technologies)
  • Performs power systems analyses for renewable energy integration, transmission and distribution system expansion, voltage stability and power quality
  • Performs detailed analyses of industrial power quality problems and designs/recommends appropriate solutions
  • Develops and maintains software models for all STATCOM products
  • Writes study reports and technical sections of project proposals for STATCOM projects
  • Actively participates in the existing product improvement and new product development analyses
  • Performs economic evaluations of transmission and distribution system expansion plans to accompany technical evaluations of recommended alternatives
  • Actively works to build relationships with utility planners and engineers, and consultants in the industry
  • Prepares technical papers and presentations for trade shows and technical conferences

Education Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) with emphasis on power systems
  • For candidates with 1-5 year experience, theoretical background either on power systems analysis (specifically load flow, transient stability and electromagnetic transients) or power electronics (specifically FACTS devices and converters) is preferred
  • For candidates with 5-10 years of experience, prior power utility background, specifically transmission or distribution planning, or power systems consulting experience, is preferred

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:

  • Experience with transient stability simulation tools (preferably PSS®E, PSLF or PowerFactory). Knowledge of transient stability theory is needed for candidates without the simulation experience
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic transients (EMT) theory. Experience with EMT simulation tools (PSCAD, EMTP-RV, etc.) is preferred
  • Familiarity with distribution planning software (preferably CYME, Milsoft WindMil® or DNV-GL Synergi)
  • Understanding of power electronics devices, control systems, and their applications in either a utility or industrial environment
  • Proficiency in a programming language (FORTRAN, C or Python preferred)
  • Ability to develop and/or modify load flow, stability, and EMT software models for AMSC®’s products
  • Familiarity with real-time digital simulators (preferably RTDS)
  • Comfortable working directly with customers to generate interest in AMSC®’s products
  • Capable of collaborating and cultivating customer relationships
  • Familiarity with equipment standards and specifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Job involves writing and presenting technical papers
  • Comfortable teaching technical workshops on FACTS technology and their applications in power systems
  • Up to 20% travel (local and International) may be required
