Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

Manages activities through first or second (Dir) level managers. This position is responsible for the effective operation of Engineering activities of major significance to the organization, while ensuring that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and obtained. This position requires a strong background and experience in mechanical design and the creation of mechanical and electrical specifications. Candidate must be capable to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team consisting of engineers, and technical support personnel in a fast-paced work environment.

Functions:

  • Mentor senior management to ensure talent needs are met for the long term strategy. Designs and develops leadership development and succession plans.
  • Forecasts future internal needs and impacts strategic planning objectives and strategies for the organization. Decisions have a profound impact on the total organization. Work involves latitude for decision making and priority setting. Projects are reviewed through achievement of objectives determined by predefined goals.

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

AMSC is seeking a talented Senior Vacuum Technician to join the Advanced Technology Group. The right candidate will be an enthusiastic professional with experience in the high vacuum and cryogenics. The candidate will be working among a team of engineers and technicians to assist in the design, assembly and testing of concepts and engineering demonstrations of systems for High Temperature Superconducting applications. The candidate will support manufacturing and testing, process development, prototype fabrication and process documentation for expansion into low and medium volume production. The candidate should be comfortable working collaboratively with team members from multiple functions as well as on their own with minimum instructions.

Functions:

  • Experiment/prototype system assembly, test and evaluation of results
  • Evaluation and troubleshooting of system performance
  • Vacuum leak detecting
  • Field Service/Demonstration support of vacuum and cryogenic systems
  • Testing process development, prototype fabrication and process documentation
  • Additional Responsibilities include providing cryogenic and vacuum consultation and support in the group and throughout the entire organization, such as:
    • Instrumentation specification and support
    • Establishing and maintaining a pool of vacuum related equipment
    • Provide training of proper methods for preparation of refrigeration system
    • Training in proper cleaning of material for use in vacuum systems
    • Troubleshooting of complex vacuum and cryogenic systems

Education – Experience:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • Candidate must have at least 15 year experience in cryogenics and vacuum field with emphasis on hardware

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Hands on experience with laboratory tools and equipment such as leak detector, cryo-pump and various cryogenic refrigeration systems
  • Some experience of data acquisition system is highly desirable
  • Machining skills and experience in manufacturing HTS components is a plus
  • Good organizational skills

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

Functions:

  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly from sub-assembly level to finish goods
  • Load and operate automated manufacturing equipment according to work instructions and follow standard operating procedures
  • Assemble products according to good manufacturing practices, including specification of materials, parts and assembly and operating process equipment
  • Document assembly processes/instructions/status reports for all incoming Grid products
  • Work with Field Service and Engineering staff to assist in troubleshooting in house and field issues as required
  • Assist Supervisor and or Team Leader in production planning
  • Follow all safety requirements across the Grid manufacturing plant and notify your Supervisor and or Team Lead of any potential safety risk

Support Gridtec Solutions™ by conducting power system studies and modeling related to the AMSC® STATCOM products using load flow, transient stability and electromagnetic transient simulation tools.

Functions:

  • Supports detailed application and design studies for AMSC®’s products including FACTS systems, power electronic converters, energy storage solutions, fault current limiters and high capacity superconductor cable systems
  • Uses network analysis software to perform detailed load flow, transient stability and electromagnetic transient studies in assessing system requirements and appropriate solution options (using either current or innovative new technologies)
  • Performs power systems analyses pertaining to renewable energy integration, transmission and distribution system expansion, voltage stability, and reliability and power quality
  • Performs detailed analyses of industrial power quality problems and designs/recommends appropriate solutions
  • Writes study reports and technical sections of project proposals for STATCOM projects

Education – Experience:

  • Junior or Senior in an Electrical Engineering program with emphasis on power systems
  • In addition to power systems courses, candidates who have taken classes on control systems and courses that involve basic programming skills (Python, Matlab, C) are preferred

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for utility, industrial and renewable sales activities. This position will develop, lead and implement the regional sales plan. Identify customers and their needs; provide all necessary support required to close orders for AMSC products and services. Regional Sales Manager will set priorities, identify initiatives and develop rep action plan aimed at maximizing sales growth.

Functions:

  • Develop, present for approval, and implement an annual regional sales plan that ensures attainment of sales goals and objectives. Report monthly to Sales Director on the status of the plan and any other significant information.
  • Build trading area strategies to proactively generate leads and systematically attack the opportunities within the marketplace.  Utilize all available resources including local regulatory agencies, Energy Commissions, ISO’s, TransCos, etc. Create account plans detailing all influence points and strategies for building long term relationships.  Additionally, create a sound approach to closing transactional orders.
  • Identify and prioritize regional initiatives to improve rep performance or fill geographical or market gaps in coverage.
  • Monitor and analyze reports of regional sales data and information so support improvements in rep performance based upon priority of regional initiatives.
  • Support sales growth thru coaching and training of key reps, conduct annual reviews of rep performance
  • Integrate the efforts of AMSC functional areas to develop and execute complete, responsive and accurate technical proposals and project plans.  Present solutions to customers at all levels within the organization including high level management (CFO, VP…), procurement managers and technical evaluators.
  • Identify new products and markets opportunities and support product marketing by capturing and timely reporting of competitive information.
  • Participate in the development of marketing materials, presentations, point papers, and proposals for solutions to customer power quality/stability problems and to industry representatives and technical/professional organizations.
  • Attend and perform booth duty as required for selected regional and national trade shows and conferences.
  • Provide sales support for customers, assist in developing solutions, identifying requirements, conducting site surveys, developing project plans, schedules and cost estimates, while reviewing site designs and coordinating activities necessary to close orders.

Education – Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering is preferred.  MS/MBA a plus.
  • 7-10 years technical experience in creatively selling equipment or services in the utility and/or the industrial markets. Some experience with LATAM markets not required but a plus.
