Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

AMSC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the DVAR/VVO product line within the Manufacturing team. This individual will manage and oversee the Manufacturing Engineering function and focus on driving operational excellence by supporting production, implementing process improvements, and contributing to the development and scaling of manufacturing operations.

Functions:

  • Be seen as the main floor contact for mechanical & electrical engineering clarifications and changes.
  • For changes that do not affect form/fit/function or the specification, correct via ECN.  Otherwise, engage with applicable Engineer to address.
  • Provide daily support to manufacturing operations by resolving technical issues and process bottlenecks.
  • Work with engineering on special design considerations.
  • Review designs with Engineering before they are released to the floor to ensure ease of manufacture and identify problems and offer suggestions for design improvements (product review kick-off meetings).
  • Document and deliver feedback to Engineering and other departments for corrections and/or areas of improvement.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes and procedures to optimize quality, efficiency, and safety
  • Be a change-agent with functional leaders to lower total overall costs.
  • Makes recommendations & suggestions regarding materials, materials sourcing, specifications, techniques, practices, issues, or anything quality related.
  • Collaborate with Design and Test Engineering teams to ensure seamless transition of products from design to production
  • Create and maintain detailed work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing routings
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to product or process non-conformances
  • Design and specify fixtures, tools, and equipment to support manufacturing and assembly operations
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors on component quality and manufacturability issues
  • Support Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) initiatives across production and engineering functions
  • Analyze manufacturing metrics and data to drive process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, ISO procedures, and environmental regulations
  • Participate in new product introduction and transfer-to-manufacturing efforts
  • Provide training and guidance to production staff and technicians as needed

Education – Experience:
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role, preferably within a power electronics or electromechanical assembly environment

 

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, lean practices, and process optimization
  • Experience working with electro-mechanical assemblies and power-electronic systems preferred
  • Familiarity with manufacturing test environments including high-voltage and high-current systems

Functions:

  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly from sub-assembly level to finish goods
  • Load and operate automated manufacturing equipment according to work instructions and follow standard operating procedures
  • Assemble products according to good manufacturing practices, including specification of materials, parts and assembly and operating process equipment 
  • Assist in documenting assembly processes/instructions/status reports for all incoming products 
  • Work with Field Service and Engineering staff to assist in troubleshooting in house and field issues as required

Functions:

  • Perform failure analysis and root cause studies of premature component failures and formulate the actions necessary to match component reliability.
  • Perform on-site installation and commissioning of SPS Degaussing systems for domestic and international customers.  
  • Train customer in operating and maintenance practices as appropriate for system type 
  • Assist Engineering & Manufacturing with factory testing of new units.  
  • Responsible for modifying documentation pertaining to each customer unit including schematics, user manuals, safety practices, etc, to reflect actual site/installation conditions.
  • Interact with customer representative to solve problems that need to be handled remotely.  As necessary, travel to the customer site to maintain high reliability.

  • Ability to carry a Field Service pager 20% the time.

AMSC is looking for a skilled electrical/electronics engineer with a background in electronic controls in applications to electric power systems. In this career opportunity you will become an expert on AMSC grid products.  You will use these skills to interface directly with sales, field service, manufacturing, and engineering departments to ensure current and future grid products meet the required safety, functional and performance requirements.

Functions:

  • Participate in new product development and existing product maintenance/enhancement projects.
  • Select control and related components, design, and validate circuit performance.
  • Document designs and create BOMs. 
  • Review grid product interface (SCADA, HMI, local control stations, etc.) requirements and then design/develop these interfaces to meet project requirements and ensure high quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and review product documentation including items such as O&M manuals, interface documents, and connection diagrams.
  • Support field service for detailed product interface, performance, or functionality questions and issues as required.

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

Position Summary: 

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful completion of projects by collaborating and leading company departments. 

 Responsibilities: 

  • Oversight of multiple projects 
  • Direct Kick-Off Meeting to confirm project scope, customer need-by dates, hi-level schedule and labor budget hours and revenue milestones. 
  • Interface with core functions (Sales, Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Finance & Manufacturing) to generate project specifications and confirm customer requirements at Sales Order inception:
    • Sales Budget Worksheet review 
    • Confirm Engineering and Production department labor hours budgets 
    • Communicate discrepancies to the Sales and Finance departments 
    • Define key project requirements, including revenue milestones, and flow down to team members. 
  • Direct interface for customer contacts to report project status, manage change orders, track project milestones and communicate deviations in production schedule. 
  • Review project plan from the planner:
    • Labor load conflicts (under/overload issues) 
    • Materials lead time conflicts 
  • Production Build Plan (sub-assembly detail):
    • Review start to finish dates 
    • Collaborate with Production planning to schedule orders to meet customer needs. 
  • Will take leadership role in the compilation of project schedules, task, and project completion time estimates, specifications, test plans, equipment purchases, release of related documentation, revenue milestones and other duties as assigned. 
  • Assist and recommend coordination for personnel resource usage in engineering and production in order to meet or beat dates and budgets weekly. 
  • Monitor certification needs and ensure the Quality department is ahead of shipment needs. 
  • Review Engineering due dates vs the percent of completion, identify conflicts, and resolve with Engineering. 
  • Proactively define and suggest improvements to the design-engineering environment as well as areas unrelated to engineering. 
  • Communicate budget hours vs the percent of completion issues to production and Finance. 
  • Meet with Finance to review job progress on both schedule and budget. 
  • Facilitate and communicate production delivery of completed units to the Test department. 
  • Collaborate with the Procurement department to facilitate materials to push and/or pull as needed. 
  •  Facilitate/Communicate witness test dates between the customer and Test department. 
  • Close out meeting for technical and budget changes. 
  • Review issues throughout the project, suggest future SOP’s, etc. and denote in final close out memo stating the issue(s) encountered attached to the project for future budgeting and history. 

Education – Experience:

  • Neeltran’s products are all custom designed to meet each individual customer’s needs. Experience in a custom industrial project-based organization is highly desired. Ability to interface with Sales, Engineering (internal and external), Finance & Production teams as well as direct customer management experience is required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, including course work in oil-filled power transformer and rectifier manufacturing OR the equivalency of progressively responsible work experience. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in oil-filled power transformer and rectifier manufacturing/design.

  • Proficiency with MS Office is required. 
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
