 Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities: 

Functions: 

  • Work directly with customers / engineering firms to respond to technical questions / issues at all phases of the project (pre-award through post energization). 
  • Provide design submittal drawings in a timely manner that accurately reflect specified designs in a timely manner. Work with the proposal / sales engineer to ensure that the design reflects agreed upon design elements. 
  • Follow-up with customers to ensure that the design approval process moves forward in a timely manner. Follow-up with customer to get to a design approved status. 
  • Design with lessons learned in mind. Work with the quality manager to ensure that quality / reliability issues found pre and post shipment are addressed in future designs. 
  • Develop designs that ensure reliability, compliance to industry standards, and conformance to applicable industry standards. 
  • Provide adequate design detail for production. Ensure part numbers are accurate and provided for key components. Show internal construction details to a degree that allows for semi-skilled labor to construct and assemble the design without being overly burdensome to engineering. 
  • Assist operations with alternate components designs / suppliers when availability of specified or approved component becomes problematic for reasons such as lead time or availability. 
  • Stay abreast of the latest component technology, test methods, and applicable industry standards and incorporate into designs as required and advantageous for safety, cost, etc. 
  • Participate in customer factory acceptance testing as needed or requested. 
 Education – Experience: 
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field 
  • 4 + years’ experience in practical design engineering and high voltage testing. 
 Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs: 
  • A strong background in AutoCAD is required. 
  • Contribute to the development of new designs and concepts. 
  • The ability to switch between multiple projects quickly and provide team members with detailed technical support in both the design and debugging stages of the project is required. 
  • Written and oral communications with marketing, applications, engineering, manufacturing, service, and department directors to define and modify product or process specifications. 
  • Written and oral communication with customers or potential customers at the level and frequency determined by engineering or project managers.

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

AMSC has an opening for a technician to carry out daily maintenance of thin and thick film manufacturing equipment.  The role will require routine cleaning of the internals of deposition systems and machine components using sanding, grinding and other hand tools.  The successful candidate will be capable of following standard procedures and work as part of an equipment engineering group maintaining production equipment.

Functions:

Day to day activities consist of preparing various physical vapor deposition (PVD) equipment for production runs including:

  • Disassembly and reassembly of shields and framework.
  • Lightly sanding and cleaning of all internal surfaces
  • Offline shield backplane preparation
  • Sensor adjustments
  • Parts cleaning
  • Maintaining area and equipment cleanliness
  • Assist with equipment maintenance when needed

 

Education – Experience:
  • Minimum 0-2 years of demonstrated relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of machine shop tools i.e. Lathe, drill press, milling machine, and band saw would be a plus.

 

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:
  • Must have basic experience in maintaining equipment in a manufacturing facility.
  • Must have good mechanical skills and able to pay attention to details
  • Self-starter and independent working attributes are essential.

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

Functions:

  • Perform site surveys as requested by Project Managers and Applications Engineers.
  • Perform site Power Quality testing and prepare reports for external clients or internal AMSC Sales and Marketing Department.
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause studies of premature component failures and formulate the actions necessary to match component reliability.
  • Perform on-site commissioning of D-VAR, PQ-SVC systems and inverter components and control electronics for domestic and international customers.
  • Train customer in operating and maintenance practices as appropriate for system type
  • Assist Engineering. & Manufacturing with factory testing of new units.
  • Assist Sales & Marketing team with the new product development process.  Present FS suggestions to corporate, based on knowledge of system operations at customer sites to improve product or reduce costs.
  • Responsible for modifying documentation pertaining to each customer unit including schematics, user manuals, safety practices, etc, to reflect actual site/installation conditions.
  • Ability to specify, review, and implement specialized maintenance procedures for field installations.
  • Manage the field change order process for the FS Dept.
  • Monitor customer units using the DAS (Database Acquisition System) and remote monitoring systems as Predictive Maintenance tools to foresee problems and develop solutions before they affect the customer.   Interact with customer representative to solve problems that need to be handled remotely.  As necessary, travel to the customer site to maintain high reliability.
  • Provide written communications regarding customer units.  Produce, distribute, and maintain files containing service reports after each on-site visit.  Maintain files and write monthly reports for each unit detailing carryovers.  Produce and distribute weekly reports to ASC management on current field service activities.
  • World wide travel required.  Travel time anticipated at least 50%.
  • Ability to oversee and perform trend analysis of the field service database.
  • Ability to carry a Field Service pager 25% the time.
  • Maintain inventory levels of parts.
  • Schedule routine maintenance with customer.
  • Schedule startup/commissioning activities to maintain product delivery commitments.
  • Follow company purchasing authorization procedures
  • Other duties assigned.

Education – Experience:

  • Engineering degree in a technical field.  Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in an electrical power, electronics environment, and communication systems.  Experience can be substituted for educational requirements

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:

  • Working knowledge of electrical power circuits.
  • Working knowledge of power electronics.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Computer knowledge in a Windows environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Ability to work both in teams and independently.
  • Appreciates attention for detail.
  • Basic knowledge of NEC and IEEE standards for electrical installations.
  • Distribution voltage experience highly desired.
  • Medium voltage safety training required or must be completed prior to field assignments.
  • Medium work with occasional heavy work up to 75 pounds.
