Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

Functions:

  • Perform electronics and mechanical assembly from sub-assembly level to finish goods
  • Load and operate automated manufacturing equipment according to work instructions and follow standard operating procedures
  • Assemble products according to good manufacturing practices including ESD safe handling, specification of materials, parts and assembly and operating process equipment 
  • Perform incoming parts inspections and place components into inventory
  • Follow document control process for work instruction and travelers
  • Creating and modifying work instructions and travelers as needed
  • Will be responsible for shipping and receiving  
  • Assist Supervisor and or Team Leader in production planning 
  • Follow all safety requirements across the manufacturing plant and notify your Supervisor and or Team Lead of any potential safety risk
  • Must adhere to all policies and practices of AMSC ensuring the Code of Conduct and highest level of ethics are always maintained

Interaction with Others (level of contact, purpose and frequency)

  • Work with all levels of the organization to plan work and resolve problems on a daily basis.

Education – Experience:

  • Minimum:  High School or Technical school with 3+ years industry experience
  • Preferred:  2-year technical degree

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:

  • Basic technical and mechanical skills 
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting mechanical assembly drawings and BOMs 
  • Demonstrated high level of attention to detail 
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other technical data sheets would be helpful 
  • Understanding of safety practices in a plant environment 
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally/written 
  • Computer literate in word processing with the ability to type, email, and general desktop computer use
  • Flexibility to work overtime 
  • Medium to heavy work must be able to lift 75 pounds or exert 75 pounds of force on a regular basis

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

AMSC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the DVAR/VVO product line within the Manufacturing team. This individual will manage and oversee the Manufacturing Engineering function and focus on driving operational excellence by supporting production, implementing process improvements, and contributing to the development and scaling of manufacturing operations.

Functions:

  • Be seen as the main floor contact for mechanical & electrical engineering clarifications and changes.
  • For changes that do not affect form/fit/function or the specification, correct via ECN.  Otherwise, engage with applicable Engineer to address.
  • Provide daily support to manufacturing operations by resolving technical issues and process bottlenecks.
  • Work with engineering on special design considerations.
  • Review designs with Engineering before they are released to the floor to ensure ease of manufacture and identify problems and offer suggestions for design improvements (product review kick-off meetings).
  • Document and deliver feedback to Engineering and other departments for corrections and/or areas of improvement.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes and procedures to optimize quality, efficiency, and safety
  • Be a change-agent with functional leaders to lower total overall costs.
  • Makes recommendations & suggestions regarding materials, materials sourcing, specifications, techniques, practices, issues, or anything quality related.
  • Collaborate with Design and Test Engineering teams to ensure seamless transition of products from design to production
  • Create and maintain detailed work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing routings
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to product or process non-conformances
  • Design and specify fixtures, tools, and equipment to support manufacturing and assembly operations
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors on component quality and manufacturability issues
  • Support Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) initiatives across production and engineering functions
  • Analyze manufacturing metrics and data to drive process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, ISO procedures, and environmental regulations
  • Participate in new product introduction and transfer-to-manufacturing efforts
  • Provide training and guidance to production staff and technicians as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Education – Experience:
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role, preferably within a power electronics or electromechanical assembly environment

 

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, lean practices, and process optimization
  • Experience working with electro-mechanical assemblies and power-electronic systems preferred
  • Familiarity with manufacturing test environments including high-voltage and high-current systems
  • Proficient in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and process issues
  • Hands-on experience with design for manufacturability (DFM), process validation, and documentation control
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and communicate technical concepts clearly
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and CAD tools; familiarity with MRP/ERP systems a plus
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts
  • Awareness of electrical and mechanical safety protocols and manufacturing standards
  • Able to work independently, multitask, and make sound technical decisions under pressure
  • Able to lift 50 pounds or exert equivalent force as needed in a manufacturing setting
  • Tasks may involve prolonged standing or working in an industrial environment
